New bears started

Had a very productive day today. Three new bears cut out, one to be made from each of the three new furs I got last week.

Lucas

Lucas is approximately 12½" tall when standing.

He is made from very soft faux fur and he has ultrasuede paw pads, which compliments his fur beautifully.

Lucas is five way jointed and is filled with heavy weight polyester fibre.

He has black glass eyes, he also has a large embroidered nose and his face has been lightly hand shaded.

Lucas is one of a kind.

He is currently available from Stonegate Teddy Bears, York.

Granville

Granville is approximately 11" tall when standing.

He is made from grey mohair and his paw pads are made from silver ultrasuede, which compliments his fur beautifully.

Granville is five way jointed and is filled with heavy weight polyester fibre.
He also has some stainless steel ball bearings in his tummy for extra weight.

Granville has black glass eyes set atop white felt.

He has a large embroidered nose and his face has been lightly hand shaded.

Granville is one of a kind.

Bran

Bran is approximately 10½" tall when standing.
He is made from beige mohair and has matching ultrasuede paw pads.

Bran is five way jointed with a wobble-neck joint, and is filled with heavy weight polyester fibre.
He has black glass eyes and and a brown perle cotton embroidered nose.

He has been extensively hand shaded, shaved and has sewn on patches to give him a scruffy, well loved look.

Bran is one of a kind.

He is currently available from Stonegate Teddy Bears, York.

British Bear Artist Awards Nomination

I have some exciting news for you all....

I am proud to announce that my Panda, Mei Sheng, has been nominated in category 2 of the British Bear Artist Awards.

Here is a little photo of him.

Just need to book a place to stay for my trip to Hove in December for the judging and award presentation.

I'm so excited!!

New Bear - Chester

I have finally managed to get a new bear finished. His name is Chester, he is 12" tall (when standing) and is made from a beautiful Camel coloured mohair.

He is filled with heavyweight polyester fibre and has steel ball bearings in his tummy for extra weight. He is fully jointed and has hand painted sparkly brown glass eyes.

Here he is, I hope you like him.

A few new bears

Since my last post I have made a four new bears, Harry, Mei Sheng, Max & Harley, their pictures are below.
I hope you like them.

I have got a couple of new bears on the go at the moment, pictures will be posted when they are finished.

The ABC Awards voting has now ended and I am now waiting to hear what position Louis came in the competition. It would be nice for him to win his category, but I'm just happy that he was nominated in the first place.

Also, I mentioned the other month that I had completed my CBT. I now have my very first motorbike, a Suzuki Intruder 125. I went out on it on Sunday, just to have a ride around a local industrial estate. I did quite well, but I have decided that I need a lesson to get used to it.

Rob and I are going to Silverstone on Sunday. One of his friends has just turned 30 and has organised to do a single seater experience at Silverstone, so Rob has decided to have a go as well. I am just spectating, the camera is going with me too so I will put up a couple of pics when we get back.

Alyssa

I would like to introduce you all to my latest bear, Alyssa.

She is 11" tall and is made from white alpaca, purple and burgundy curly mohair and has black and burgundy cashmere paw pads.

She is fully jointed with nut and bolt joints with a cotterpin neck joint. Alyssa has black glass eyes and an embroidered nose. Her face has been hand shaded and she is wearing two tone ribbons in her hair.

I hope you like her.

CBT

I did my CBT (Compulsary Bike Training) today.
It was good fun, but a lot to take in in one go. I am used to riding pillion, but it is so different riding one yourself. I passed, so I can't have done too bad for a first attempt at riding.

I just want to find a little 125cc motorbike of my own. A nice cruiser style bike so that I can keep practising until I can do my test.

Two new bears

I went to Patchings bear fair the other week, it's such a lovely little fair. I met Sue from Fenbeary Folk and Vicki from Baggaley Bears. I also put my name down to have a stall for the August fair at Patchings.

Since it was a nice sunny day, I also went to Newstead Abbey which is only a few miles away from Patchings farm. It is a beautiful house, outside and in. Although, I felt as though I should have been dressed in a fine 18th or 19th century gown befitting the period of the house. I could quite see myself living in a house like that. If only I could afford it...oh well...a girl can dream.

We went up to Whitby for the day on 25th April. It was the first Whitby Gothic Weekend of the year. It was nice to catch up with some of our friends.

Last Saturday we went to East Kirkby air museum with our motorbike club. We saw the Lancaster bomber and the Dakota flew over the air base. From there we went to stay with a friend in Lincoln. On Sunday a group of us rode up to our house and we all had the Hungarian stew that my neighbour taught me, it went down a treat. Most people had two to three helpings.

I have been busy sewing since my last post and have now finished another two bears that are available for adoption, Emma and Spike.

A new bear available

Well, we finally managed to get the decorating done. It took a little longer than expected due to most of the plaster coming off the walls with the wallpaper. It looks a lot better now, although it was one of the better rooms in our house; with the exception of our bedroom, every other room is still stuck in the seventies.

Here is a little picture of the room now it's finished, as I promised. The lighting isn't fantastic, as I took the photo when I got home from work, but it is a lovely chocolatey brown with beige and the new suite is sooo comfy!!

Since that job is now finished, I have managed to get back to my bear making and have a new little bear to introduce.

Here is Oscar.
He is 6" tall, fully cotter pin jointed and is made of a beautiful chocolate coloured 'Sassy' plush fabric. He has black glass eyes and a black needle felted nose. Oscar is filled with polyester fibre and he has glass beads in his feet and tummy for a little extra weight.

I have just received an email from Australian Bear Creations magazine to announce that my entry Louis has been nominated in the ABC Awards 2009. YAY!!

Busy, busy, busy

This month has been nice for me. We got some snow, which meant I had to walk to work. Ok, I didn't really have to walk, but I love snow and I can't remember the last time it lasted more than a few hours. Plus it was much easier than getting the car out to travel a mile to work, I know I shouldn't get the car out to only travel a mile, but I admit that I am quite lazy and usually in a rush in a morning. Here is a picture taken from the window at the back of my house, it is quite dark as it was taken at about 5:30pm after work. You wouldn't think we lived on a main road would you?

Also, I finally have my first bear of the year finished. He is called Gerald and he was commissioned from an old work friend. I hope you all like him.

Now, unfortunately I have to take a few weeks off making bears because we recently ordered a new suite for the living room, so we are re-decorating, and it looks to be a bigger job that we first thought since the plaster is coming off with the wallpaper.
Oh well, it will look lovely when it's finally finished.

I will post pics when we get everything finished. Then it's back to making bears and getting everything covered in fluff again.

Welcome to my blog!

Here is a picture of me and my fiancé, Rob, all dressed up in Whitby last October; and Dino our Bearded Dragon (chasing a tasty cricket).

I can't believe that we are already in February, I have finally started on a few new bears after having to give my hand a rest from sewing for a month. I will post pictures as soon as they are done.
